Excerpt from March 26, 2006 Sermon

Key Verses:

In that day shall this song be sung in the land of Judah; we have a strong city; salvation will God appoint for walls and bulwarks.  * Open ye the gates, that the righteous nation which keepeth the truth may enter in.  Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee; because he trusteth in thee.  Trust ye in the Lord forever; for in the Lord JEHOVAH is everlasting strength.

Isaiah 26:1-4

I have said many times, and I will continue to say it until I die....God is trustworthy.  There are a lot of things that seem to be trustworthy, but are not. God is the only One in whom we can  have complete trust.  The Bible tells me from cover to cover that God is faithful.

People may ask, “How can I trust something or someone I can't see?”  Well! let's use this logic, everybody trust something.  Sometimes we can't see it, we can't touch it, but we trust it's there.  We can't see oxygen, but we trust it's there.

People say, “I trust Uncle Sam, He's going to take care of me.”  Wake up!  He doesn't know you're there, and it's not Uncle Sam's job to take care of you in the first place. So you can't trust the government, but you can trust Father God.  Let me show you how you can trust God:

·        First thing you can trust in the Lord is SALVATION.  Verse 1 says;  Salvation, will God appoint for walls and bulwarks. In other words, God is going to build a city based on Grace and Salvation.  How can you see God's work today?  Look around you, see the lives being changed for Jesus.  Look at the sinners that are getting saved and changing their lives.  Because they trusted in God, He's using them for His glory.  What the Lord Jesus forgives, He forgets.  Salvation is available to who-so-ever-will.  You will stand before God one day, and you will stand alone.  He may ask the question, “Why should I let you into the Kingdom?”   Will you be able to say, “I trusted in Your Son Jesus.”  That is the only answer that will do. He said, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Light.”

·        Second thing you can trust in the Lord is TRUTH.  Verse 2 says; Open ye the gates, that the righteous nation which keepeth the truth may enter.   I've come to find out that many things people speak as truth are not truth.  People once said the world was flat.   We now know that's not true. They said the earth started with a big BANG!  If you believe that, you might very well believe the earth is flat.  My Bible says in Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.  Now that's the truth. Another truth going around is that man is neither good nor bad.  He can act the way he wants to act, there is no accountability for the next life.  As a matter of fact, some say there is no next life. Again, my Bible tells me there is. It's appointed to man once to die, and then the judgment.  There is a choice, but there is also accountability  .  Gal. 6:7-8: Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.  What God says is true....is the truth!  There is a God. There is a Son, and there is a Heaven.

·        The third thing you can trust in the Lord is HIS PROMISE.  The Bible is filled with hundreds and hundreds of  promises for those with salvation, but there are some “IF'S” that go along with those promises.  The biggest word in the Bible is “IF”  I will give you water that you will never thirst again-- IF  you drink from my cup---.  “I will give you bread, you will never hunger again--IF you will eat at my table. I will give you the promise of eternal life--IF you will trust in My Son, Jesus Christ.  Everything has a condition to the promise.  The promises of God are not just thrown out to us. We must live life God's way---not ours!   I don't know about tomorrow.  I don't know if the sun will rise tomorrow, but one thing I can be sure of-- I know I can trust in God for all things.  I know He is truthful in all things. I know His promises to me are true.  The biggest word is IF, but the greatest word is ALL.......All things Good come from the Father.
