Having
therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus,
by a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil,
that is to say, his flesh;
And having a high priest over
the house of God; Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith,
having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with
pure water. Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering (for
he is faithful that promised :) ...
Hebrews 10:19-23
Why Revival? Why should it
effect me and why now? The natural progression of man is to doubt. It is not
natural for man to move closer to God, but the soul of man that has been touched
by the power of God longs to be with God in the fullness. Man finds it much
easier to live apart from God; it takes work to walk in the light. It is so easy
to drift away from God; if we are not careful, we will wake up one morning and
ask ourselves this question, “When was the last time I sensed the presence of
God and when was the last time I really prayed and believed that my prayers were
being heard?”
Can you still remember when
you were saved? I am not talking about the day or the hour; I am talking about
that experience of how you felt when you trusted the Lord. Can you remember the
joy bells when you came up a Child of God? I remember that sensation and I have
never felt that way since. I have always longed to feel that way one more time
--that sweet sensation with just Jesus and me.
The writer of Hebrew says;
“Let us hold fast to our profession.” I am not saved today because I prayed a
specific prayer; I am a Child of God because I entered into the Holy of Holy
through Jesus Christ. It is by grace through faith that we are all saved. Jesus
made that possible on that old rugged cross. Let us hold fast to our
relationship. Let us hold fast to our dedication. Let us hold fast to Jesus
Christ. Let us hold fast to His word. Let us hold fast to His will. Let us
hold fast to the church and the gospel. Let us hold fast because if we do not
follow the course, we waver. “Do you know what the word "waver" means in the
Greek language? It means "to waver." I though I was going to get some big
revelation here, but the Greek language says, "to waver, simply mean to waver!”
JJ
Actually, it means to lean, to go back
and forth, to shift the course. To waver from Jesus means you stray from
the path.
Matthew 7 says; “It is
still the straight and narrow gate that leads to eternal life.” I know
people today who have shifted their course and will not darken the doors of the
church or speak the name of Jesus unless they use His name in a cuss-word. These
are people who once were faithful to God but now have shifted their path.
“Give the devil an inch and he will become your ruler.” Don’t deviate in your
commitment to Jesus. Once you do, you forsake His will in your life.
It is not easy to live a
Christian life but it is worth every tear we shed, every sleepless night we
have, and all the pain and suffering we go through just to know we have God.
The pay might not be good down here, but the retirement benefits are out of this
world in Heaven.
This is not a time to waver
Church…The world is looking for something they can believe in. If they do
not see Jesus in JR. Fields, I am a failure. Christians, if people do not see
Jesus in you, you are a failure. We cannot waver in our commitment. If we do,
we are a useless Christian.
Joshua 1:7..."Only be
thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according
to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee; turn not the right hand
or to the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest."
If you stay on course for
Jesus He will prosper you. As much as I love my wife and family, I love Jesus
more. One day, I want to hear Him say, “Well done, my good and faithful
servant.”
Sometimes we let doubt enter
in and our faith becomes weak. However, I have learned that God’s way is not
always our way because our will is flawed. His will is perfect! Therefore,
we must change our course in praying, too. “Lord, give me the strength to
handle this situation according to your will.” Do not be afraid. If God
has laid a path before you, walk in it. He says; “I know my sheep and they
know my voice.”
I have a question for
you…”Has there been a time you were closer to God than you are now--- have you
wavered--- do you need a revival? Christianity is something we should never
play with. God will not ignore disobedience. “Whatsoever we soweth, that shall
we reap.”
Now is the time to “Drive
the Doubt Out.”
