Galatians
6:9-10
And let us not be weary
in well-doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. As we
have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them
who are of the household of faith.
Paul reminds us that the Christian walk is a clearly defined walk. There
are no gray areas when it comes to walking the Christian life. It is all
in black and white. It is clearly define in the Scripture; we have the
word; and we have the speaking (Prayer) through the Holy Spirit to lead us into
living a Christ-honoring lifestyle.
We have a choice. When people choose not to walk pleasing to God, we
cannot blame our actions on the "old man" because the "old man" is dead.
We cannot blame the environment, because the environment does not control our
hearts. We cannot blame others for our choice, because the choice is ours
to make. In due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
Christians must have a plan for their lives and walk in that plan. We
should pattern our lives after Jesus. He went about doing the Father's
business, always doing good. In our plan to walk the Christian walk, we
should never be weary in well-doing and never relax. I have heard so many
people say, "I used to go out of my way to help people, but I am tired of being
the "Good Samaritan." If the Spirit of God is within you, you will
walk in the Spirit and you will not fulfill the lust of the flesh. Galatians
5:16. For the born-again Christian, the Spirit is our Holy
Lifeline.
The second thing we should do is -- Quench not the Spirit. I
Thessalonians 5:19. How can we possibly serve God and quench the
Holy Spirit? We can never be an effective Christian and quench His Spirit.
If the Spirit of God is in your life, you will walk in the qualities of the
Spirit -- love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
meekness, and temperance. (See Galatians 5:22-23.)
Do not drift away from the body of Christ; in doing so you drift away from the
Spirit. Some say, "I don't have to go to church to be saved." You
don't! However, why would you not want to be in God's house if you are a
Christian? You cannot be encouraging to others if you stay out of church
yourself. You need a Church family in times of trouble and despair.
If you love Jesus, you will want to be with His people.
The third thing in your plan -- what drives you? Is it pleasing to God?
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing
of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect,
will of God. Romans 12:2
Serve God faithfully, and He will bless you
fruitfully, if you do not relax.
In times when gloom and despair come upon you, it
just might be God saying, "Hello; I am here, talk to me." What is really
sad to me is that I have seen people go through a crisis and call out to God.
Then when things get better they forget all about God and go right back where
they were before, living the same old way. You cannot live in disobedience
to God and expect God to be happy about your actions and choices. Child of
God, make a plan and follow these three things:
Walking in the Spirit is what makes the Family of
God blessed and happy.
